Quality Computer Training in a Relaxed Setting in the Borders of Scotland

This is a five day 'relax and learn' course for absolute beginners who have never used a computer before. They may not even have a computer, but by the end of the course will be able to make an informed decisions as to whether to buy one and what to buy. The group size is never larger than four. The content for each day is outlined below.

The course typically runs from Tuesday to Saturday, residential participants arriving in time for dinner on the Monday evening and daparting some time on Saturday afternoon. Course Content

Day 1: Windows and Programs - get to grips with the mouse and keyboard; discover how to start programs; explore the fundamental features of Windows.

Day 2: Disks and Data - find out about the storage areas of your computer;  use CDs and floppy diskettes; discover how to install a new program, and how to manage data.

Day 3: Word Processing - learn how to enter text, edit and correct it and change its appearance; set  up the paper size and margins, and print your work.

Day 4: Another Application - explore the basic features of one other application. This might be a desk top publishing program for producing posters, leaflets or business cards; or a spreadsheet program for storing and manipulating numbers and financial data; or a database for  storing names and addresses. The choice depends on the needs of the group.

Day 5: The Internet - discover the fundamental features of the two most popular Internet applications: e-mail (creating, sending and receiving messages), and the web (visiting web pages and finding information over the web).
